Elizabeth Celeste Ibarra is a Colombian-American artist practicing photography and music, based in the Hudson Valley & Catskill region of New York.

In her photographs, she documents and examines identity and culture within what she finds most sacred: the earth, family, community, the feminine, and justice. She photographs her own experiences, reflecting themes of personal and collective trauma.  In her images, she chooses to focus on the beauty amidst conflict. Despite the tension from what the photographs document, they still emanate a sense of calm and spaciousness. These contemplative moments provide a sense of intimacy between the viewer and the subject, pulling the viewer further into the world of the photograph. She works in conversation with the subjects, communicating their stories to the viewer.

She received a B.F.A. in Photography and Imaging from Tisch School of the Arts at New York University in 2015. In 2022, she was invited to create a solo photographic exhibition and live performance at Basilica in Hudson, NY. Her band, Camp Saint Helene, has been featured predominantly in Amazon Prime’s teen horror drama, “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and Cheryl Waters of KEXP named their song, Farfisa Song, as KEXP’s Song of the Day in 2019.
